A used car can look clean in photos and still hide expensive problems underneath. Sellers may not know about every issue, and some problems only show up during a proper inspection, road test or scan. An independent inspection can provide additional information before a purchase decision.

Inspection scope varies by vehicle and service. Ask which visual checks, diagnostic testing or road testing are included, what charges apply and how findings will be communicated.

Documented findings may help a buyer evaluate likely repair needs, discuss them with the seller or reconsider the purchase. An inspection is limited to the agreed scope and does not guarantee future condition.

For best results, arrange the inspection before final payment and before the seller pressures you to decide quickly. Bring any listing details, maintenance records or concerns from your test drive. If the seller refuses an independent inspection, treat that as information too.
